Assoc. Prof. Sohei Kobayashi

Biography
His specialties are river ecology and applied ecological engineering. He investigates river continuity, connections with forests, the impact of dams, and sediment return effects, focusing on river landscapes, riverbed topography, benthic fauna, and water quality, and explores ideal methods for managing river basins and rivers that combine flood control, water utilization, and ecosystems. In particular, we will work on research that will increase the value of soil and sand, which is the source of disasters but also the foundation of ecosystems, and the value of aquatic life as an environmental indicator.
Research Interests
-
riverbed conditions and aquatic invertebrates, which relate to issues of sediment, flow regime, hydraulic, habitat, ecological health evaluation, and ecosystem restoration in rivers.
