Shiwomeh Desmond

                 

Biography

Desmond is a Geo-Environmental Engineer and currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Kyoto University, Japan, Graduate School of Engineering, and Department of Urban Engineering. He belong to the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI)-Kyoto University, and his research is focused on floods, sediment, plastic debris, urban development, urban hydrology, dam operations, sediment management in dams, and climate change. He equally consider macro and microplastic production, transport, accumulation, and contamination of water resources. His research spans across Sub-Saharan Africa, tackling urban environmental challenges using Tailored field survey techniques, GIS, remote sensing, Machine Learning, and data science. Desmond is particularly passionate about transformational leadership as a way of unlocking the much-awaited change in our society.
