Biography
Saif Al Aamri is a Ph.D. candidate at Kyoto University under the Human Security Engineering Program (Urban Management). My research focuses on assessing the impact of dams on groundwater levels and traditional water supply systems (Aflaj) in arid regions of Oman. With a background in mechanical engineering and extensive experience in managing engineering projects related to Aflaj systems, I combines field data analysis, hydrological modeling, and GIS applications to investigate changes in aquifer recharge, runoff coefficients, and discharge before and after dam construction. My work aims to develop a sustainable framework for integrating dam operations with traditional water systems, ensuring water security and resilience in dryland environments.
