Biography  

Phuoc Sinh NGUYEN is a Ph.D. candidate at Kyoto University, supported by the Doctoral Scholarship Program (AY2024)  of the Amano Institute of Technology, Japan. His research  focuses on typhoon analysis, hydrological modeling, and the  optimal operation of cascading reservoirs using deep learning approaches and the large-ensemble d4PDF dataset.

He received his Master’s degree in 2022 with honors (Excellent), with a thesis on developing a hybrid hydrological– machine learning model for real-time flood forecasting, supported by  the Master’s Scholarship Program of the Vingroup  Innovation Foundation (VINIF), Institute of Big Data, Vingroup (Vietnam). He has 12+ years of professional experience in water  resources engineering, including the design and construction of 5+ large dams and hydropower plants; overseeing operations and improving the efficiency of 2 large hydropower plants;  developing technical solutions and transferring technology for 10+ projects on hydro-observation systems and real-time flood forecasting for hydropower operations.
