Miki Yamai

Biography
Miki is currently pursuing her master degree in the course of Urban Management, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University. She obtained her bachelor degree in the faculty of Agriculture, Niigata University on March, 2025. There, she majored irrigation and drainage engineering and forestry. The title of her graduation thesis is "Component Analysis of Soil Aggregates in Paddy Fields and Developing a Representation Method of an Aggregate-included Particle Size Distributiion".
During her research, she realized the importance of river water to crop growth and soil fertility. Thereby, she joined Kantoush lab on April, 2025 and is now studying hydrology, especially from the view of dam impacts, sediment replenishment, riverbed morphology, and water quality. She is also enjoying the international atmosphere of the lab and touching a lot of water-related issues abroad in the regular lab seminar and field works. So, she aims to reveal the connectivy of river and paddy fields also in foreign countries such as Vietnam and Philippines during her master.
As for her personal information, she is also a cat person and likes to watch movies. Recently, she started going on a hike by the influence of her labmates and is now trying to finish the Kyoto trail with her sister.
